Auracast™ Ready versus Auracast-enabled

An Auracast-enabled device can join Auracast broadcasts today. If your hearing aids, cochlear implant processor or earbuds are Auracast-enabled, you can receive audio from a Bettear Auracast transmitter right away. Simply select the broadcast using an Auracast assistant: your hearing aid application, or the Bluetooth settings on supported Android phones.

An Auracast Ready device has the Bluetooth Low Energy Audio hardware that Auracast needs, but the feature is not switched on yet. It usually needs a firmware update, an application update or, for hearing aids, activation by your hearing care professional.

Not sure which one you have? Check your manufacturer’s application or website, or ask your hearing care professional.

Bettear products

Phones act only as Auracast assistants: they find and select the broadcast, and the sound plays in your hearing aids, cochlear implant processor, earbuds or a Bettear receiver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the audio play through my phone?

No. Your phone acts only as an assistant: it helps you find and select the broadcast. The sound plays directly in your Auracast-enabled hearing aids, cochlear implant processor or earbuds. If you do not have a compatible device, ask the venue for a Bettear RTX receiver.

I have an iPhone. Can I connect?

Yes. Use your hearing aid manufacturer’s application, which usually includes an option to find and select Auracast broadcasts, for example by scanning the QR code at the venue. On supported Android phones, you can also select the broadcast directly from the Bluetooth settings, once LE Audio is enabled.

My hearing aids are “Auracast Ready”, but I cannot see the broadcast. Why?

Auracast is probably not activated yet. Update your hearing aid application, and ask your hearing care professional to update the firmware and turn on Auracast. Also, make sure the paired device’s LE Audio option in the Bluetooth settings is enabled.

Do I need the Bettear Application?

Not for Auracast. The Bettear Application is only for venues with a Bettear Wi-Fi listening system. At Auracast venues, join through your phone’s Bluetooth settings or your hearing aid application, by scanning the QR code, or by tapping your phone on the Bettear B-PASS.

My device is not on the compatibility list. Will it work?

Most likely, yes. Auracast is a Bluetooth standard, so any Auracast-enabled receiver should work. You can also check the Bluetooth Special Interest Group’s Auracast product list at www.bluetooth.com/auracast/find-a-product. Our list shows only the devices we have tested ourselves, and we add more regularly. If you have trouble connecting, contact support@bettear.com.
