02 Playback modes

Three ways to play an exhibit

On the RTX the visitor simply picks from a list of items, behind each item the integrator can mix three kinds of audio.

  • Live Auracast™ stream

A live exhibit feeds audio straight into an Auracast™ transmitter, broadcast in real time.

  • On-demand playback

Audio files loaded into the tour list, played on demand when the visitor selects them. Not synchronized.

  • Timecode-based playback

Audio files on the RTX synced to a timecode stream, frame-accurate to video, lighting or a live show.

On the RTX, visitors play each item by selecting it from the track list, as they approach it, or with Tap-to-play (NFC) on an exhibit tag.

03 Timecode over Auracast™

One device can synchronize an entire venue

Up to 50 exhibits per CASTER, multi-language and synchronised, triggered from your control system. Ideal for museums, visitor centers and immersive attractions.

Audio files on the RTX synced to a timecode stream, frame-accurate to video, lighting or a live show.

  • Up to 50 exhibits per CASTER
  • Over 20 languages per exhibit
  • Triggered from your control system
  • Timecode-synced playback (patent pending)

Audio files live on each RTX - the CASTER broadcasts only the clocks.

One CASTER broadcasting the timecode for exhibits 1 to 50; each RTX plays its audio in sync, in the visitor's language

04 Old way vs. the Bettear way

Synchronized audio for a single exhibit in 10 languages

  • Control room with ten FM transmitters and ten FM antennas, one per language

    Traditional FM-based multi-language system

One transmitter and antenna per language

Challenges: high hardware cost · complex installation · limited scalability

  • A network media player and one CASTER broadcasting timecode over Auracast™ through a network switch

    Auracast™ multi-language system

One system. Multiple exhibits. Multiple languages. All synchronized over Auracast™.

Up to 50 exhibits · over 20 languages per exhibit · seamless scalability · intuitive device dispatch & language selection
