Bettear RTX transceivers carried two parallel press tours and one students tour through the noisy exhibition halls of EUHA 2026, with about 25 journalists and students in each group. Hearing aid users listened directly in their own Auracast™ hearing aids, and English-speaking participants followed a live translation streamed from a second RTX.

At a glance

  • Event: EUHA 2026, the 70th International Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians and Industry Exhibition, 14–16 October 2026
  • Venue: Deutsche Messe Hannover, Germany
  • Use case: Guided press tours of the Industry Exhibition
  • Groups: Three tours in parallel, about 25 journalists and students each, each led by a German-speaking guide
  • Languages: German, with live English translation by a participant wearing Auracast™ hearing aids
  • Bettear products: RTX transceivers, used as transmitters for the guides and translator and as receivers for participants with headphones

The challenge

A trade-fair hall is one of the hardest places to lead a tour, and a press tour leaves no room for missed words.

Exhibition halls are loud. Stand presentations, conversations and background music overlap, and very high ceilings let the sound reverberate. A guide speaking to 25 people in that space has to raise their voice, and anyone more than a few metres away soon loses the thread.

The tour organizers had to:

  • Every word, for every journalist. The tours were for the press. Journalists needed to catch product names, figures and statements accurately, whether they stood at the front of the group or at the back, so audio quality mattered as much as volume.
  • Run three tours at once. Each group had to hear only its own guide, even when the groups were close together.
  • Cater for the hard of hearing. EUHA is the congress of hearing care. A tour that did not work for hearing aid users would miss the point.
  • Include English speakers. All three guides spoke German, but part of the press group needed the tour in English.

The solution and products

Each guide carried an RTX as an Auracast™ transmitter, so the tour went straight into every participant's ears instead of across the hall.

  • One broadcast per guide. Each German-speaking guide spoke into a microphone connected to an RTX in transmit mode. The three tours ran as three separate Auracast™ broadcasts, so each group heard only its own guide.
  • RTX receivers for participants. Participants without Auracast™ hearing devices listened through RTX receivers with headphones, tuned to their group's broadcast.
  • Participants' own hearing aids. Visitors with Auracast™-enabled hearing aids (ReSound, Oticon, Phonak and Starkey) connected directly to their group's broadcast, with a compatible smartphone acting as Auracast Assistant. The guide's voice arrived in the hearing aids, without the hall noise.
  • Live English translation with a second RTX. One participant wearing Auracast™-enabled hearing aids (Phonak) listened to the German tour and translated it live. Their English went into another RTX in transmit mode, creating an English broadcast that the English-speaking participants followed on their own receivers.

No installation was needed: the whole system was carried by the guides, the translator and the participants, and moved with the groups through the halls.

The results

Three tours, two languages and about 75 journalists and students ran side by side in a busy exhibition hall, with no fixed installation.

  • Clear audio for the press. Journalists heard the guide directly in their ears, clearly enough to note names and figures accurately, wherever they stood in the group.
  • No crosstalk between groups. The three tours ran in parallel, each on its own broadcast, without disturbing each other.
  • Hearing aids as the receiver. Hearing aid users at a hearing care congress experienced the tour through their own Auracast™ hearing aids, a live demonstration of what the technology does for them.
  • A translator without a booth. A single participant with Auracast™ hearing aids and one extra RTX turned a German tour into a bilingual one.
  • Guides could speak normally. Without having to raise their voices over the hall, the guides could hold the tour at a natural speaking level.
