Introducing DAP

One Mix Doesn’t Fit All
Every audio experience you encounter - a film soundtrack, a live performance, a museum guide, a lecture - was mixed once, for everyone. Yet no two people hear the same way. For some listeners the dialogue sits comfortably above the music; for others it disappears into it. Speech that feels naturally paced to one person races past another. Hearing varies enormously across the population, from typical hearing through every degree of hearing loss, and a single mix inevitably serves some listeners far better than others.
Until now, the answer has been to turn everything up. But louder is not clearer. What listeners actually need is a different balance - their own balance.
Meet DAP™: Your Personal Sound Designer
DAP™ - Deep Audio Processing (patent pending) is Bettear’s adaptive audio personalization technology. It combines AI and digital signal processing to do something no volume knob can: understand the audio itself, and reshape it for the person listening.
Under the hood, DAP™ listens the way a sound engineer would. It classifies the audio scene and separates it into its components - speech, music, sound effects. It analyzes the content, detecting, for example, when speech becomes too fast to follow comfortably. Then it rebuilds the mix: enhancing and rebalancing the components, and intelligently adapting the result to match each listener’s hearing profile.
The result is as if every listener - or every group of listeners with similar hearing - had their own sound designer, remixing the world in real time. Clearer dialogue without losing the music. Comfortable speech pacing. A balance tuned to how you actually hear.
At Bettear, we believe personalized audio isn’t a privilege - it’s the foundation of inclusive communication.
Where DAP™ Makes a Difference
Because DAP™ adapts to the content and the listener rather than to one fixed setting, it serves a remarkable range of situations:
- Live events and concerts. The listener hears the performance through their own device, with the vocals or dialogue lifted to where they need them - while the energy of the live mix stays intact.
- Theaters and cultural venues. Assistive listening that goes beyond amplification: the dialogue is separated from music and effects and rebalanced for each hearing profile, so the story is never lost in the soundtrack.
- Education. In lecture halls and classrooms, clear and comfortably paced speech is the difference between following a lesson and falling behind. DAP™ keeps the lecturer intelligible for every student.
- Museums and tour guiding. Guided experiences reach visitors with very different hearing, often in acoustically challenging spaces. Personalized audio means every visitor gets the full experience, not a strained version of it.
- Live streaming and broadcast. Streamed content can carry personalized renderings, bringing the same clarity to audiences far beyond the venue.
- Public administration and service venues. Counters, halls and public meetings become accessible when the spoken word arrives clear and well-paced on the listener’s own device.
In every case, the principle is the same: the content is produced once, and DAP™ makes it personal.
Part of the Bettear Ecosystem
DAP™ is the intelligence layer of Bettear’s vision for accessible audio. It works hand in hand with modern delivery technologies - Auracast™ broadcast audio and Wi-Fi streaming - to bring immersive, personalized sound to public spaces. Delivery gets the audio to your ears; DAP™ makes sure that what arrives is the audio you need.
We set out to redefine assistive listening - not as a separate, lesser channel for people with hearing loss, but as better audio for everyone. DAP™ is how that promise becomes personal.
